For high school students who are considering becoming a mechanic, you will find that there are many options for you to get certified, to get your training, and to land a great job, even if you do not want to go to school for 4 more years after you get your high school diploma. Most employers are going to require a high school diploma, so you do have to complete this, but not all require an associate or a bachelor level degree, in order for you to find a great job, and to earn a fairly high pay rate in this position. With many certification training options, and with many places to get certain licenses, you can find the job you want, and you are going to earn higher pay rates, if you do additional training, and take on specialty training courses. From working on certain engine types, to foreign made cars, you will find many shops and repair jobs are going to offer you a higher pay rate, if you are specialized, and if you do have more training than other techs at the same level as you. So, even if you do not want to go to school for 2 to 4 more years, you can find jobs, and you can find much shorter periods of certification and training, if you know where to turn. Taking the time to find the right facility to get certified with, and going to an accredited program,is very important if you want to land the top job, and to earn higher pay rates over time.
